Gerimis Tak Surutkan Antusias Warga Rayakan Tahun Baru di SCBD

SCBD Still Bustling as Residents Celebrate New Year Despite Drizzle

The New Year's Eve celebration in the SCBD Lot 1 area, South Jakarta, was lively despite light drizzle on Wednesday night (12/31).

" It feels more meaningful,"

Under the theme "Embrace Diversity, Nurture Hope", the stage remained crowded with residents who came to enjoy the lineup of events leading up to the New Year countdown.

Without a fireworks display, this year's celebration was kept simpler as a sign of sympathy for those affected by disasters in Sumatra.

Beritajakarta observed that the crowd remained enthusiastic as bands like NM Band, Stereowall, Robokop, Shakira Jasmine, and Moluccan Soul took the stage starting at 7 PM.

The absence of fireworks did not dampen the festive atmosphere. People continued to enjoy the entertainment despite drizzle. Some danced and sang along, while others watched from under umbrellas, raincoats, or shelter around the stage area.

Priska (35), who traveled from Pamulang, South Tangerang, used the MRT to reach SCBD, taking advantage of the free fare. She shared that this year's celebration felt different because there were no fireworks.

"Usually we wait for the fireworks, but this year there aren't any. But that's okay because it shows empathy for our brothers and sisters who were affected by the disaster in Sumatra. It feels more meaningful. The Jakarta Provincial Government still provided entertainment, but in a way that truly shows compassion," she said.

Meanwhile, Fatan (40), a resident of Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, said this New Year’s Eve carried a strong sense of solidarity. Alongside musical performances, the event also included interfaith prayers and charity fundraising.

According to him, New Year's Eve doesn't always have to be celebrated with a big party, but can also be a moment for reflection and togetherness.

"This is not just a celebration, but also a form of compassion. For me, this New Year's Eve felt different, but it was more memorable because of the sense of solidarity with Indonesia," he expressed.
